Does Microsoft 365 backup your data?
Microsoft 365 regularly backs up data as part of their data protection policy that supports disaster recovery scenarios and maintains the data availability. But the organizations are still responsible for data protection, as these copies are not available to administrators or end-users. While we can retrieve a few lost data via copies from Microsoft 365, the process will often prove to be expensive and counterproductive to business continuity.

Why should you backup Microsoft 365?
Organizations assume Microsoft 365 provides complete backup and recovery for their business data. However, Microsoft 365 does not create an independent copy of your data. Microsoft 365 uses recycle bins to store data from unintentional or purposeful deletion, which is time-limited. Where can I store my Microsoft 365 backup?

Can I use my cloud storage to store my Microsoft 365 backup data?
Yes, you are not restricted to any storage limits with Vembu Backup for Microsoft 365 and can store the data wherever you like. You can store your Microsoft 365 in your own public or private clouds using storage gateways. Vembu also helps you to replicate the second copy of backup data to a cloud object storage such as AWS S3, Azure Blob, IBM Cloud and other S3-compatible providers.

How is Vembu Backup for Microsoft 365 licensed?
Vembu Backup for Microsoft 365 is licensed per user account.

Vembu Microsoft 365- on-premise is licensed both in subscription and perpetual license. However, for the cloud, we provide only a subscription-based license as it is a pay as you go, license model.
What does pricing include?
Pricing is per user. It is a single month, annual or multi-year subscription that includes:

Yes, you can re-assign the license of a user who left the company to a new user. The ex-employee office 365 data will be kept in backup for long time archival.

Are there any minimum purchase restrictions for Vembu Backup for Microsoft 365?
No, Vembu Backup for Microsoft 365 has no minimum purchase restrictions. With Vembu you can buy any number of licenses as per your requirements.

Is there a free version available? What are the limitations?
Yes, Vembu offers a free edition for Microsoft 365 backup. With Vembu, you can backup and restore your Microsoft 365 Mails, Contacts, and Calendars free of cost limited to 10 users.

My Office 365 environment has grown bigger, how can I get extra licenses for backup?
You can get additional licenses by contacting the Vembu sales. Adding licenses to your existing subscription will not affect your expiration date. The additional licenses’ validity will start from the purchase date and valid until the license subscription exists.

Note: You will be asked to provide your current license key which you want to expand.

Can we export the mails to the .pst file form?
Yes, Vembu supports multiple export options for your O365 data. With Vembu you can export the mail, contacts and mails items into .pst .eml, .vcf, and .icf formats.

Is there a trial version available?
Yes, Vembu offers a trial version of Office 365 backup for 30 days. During the 30-day free trial, you can contact our Vembu support for any support queries at free of cost. After the trial period, you can purchase the license to continue using the product or you can convert to Free Edition.

How does subscription billing work?
Pricing is based on per user. With a single license, you can back up your emails, contacts, calendar, and One drive files. If multiple users use a single mailbox, the charge is for the mailbox, rather than for the number of people who have access.

Does Vembu offer Perpetual Licensing for Microsoft 365 back-ups?
Yes, Vembu offers a perpetual license only for Vembu Backup for Microsoft 365 On-Premise version and not for cloud services as they are based on a pay-as-you-go model.

Can users use their mailboxes during the backup process?
Yes, the users can work with their office 365 account mailbox, contact, calendar, and OneDrive files during the backup.

How long is backup data retained?
There is no limitation in retaining your office 365 backup, you can retain your data indefinitely until your subscription license expires.
