Vembu BDR Suite has been upgraded to v3.9.1 with the inclusion of an edition designed specifically for the small businesses. Learn what the Standard Edition has in store for your data protection.

Why Standard Edition?

At the growing rate of digitization and dependability on data, almost every business needs to have a solid data protection, disaster recovery and (depending upon its need for availability) Business Continuity plans in place.

Protect Your Data with BDRSuite

Cost-Effective Backup Solution for VMs, Servers, Endpoints, Cloud VMs & SaaS applications. Supports On-Premise, Remote, Hybrid and Cloud Backup, including Disaster Recovery, Ransomware Defense & more!

But here’s the hitch.

There is no single plan that can suit every business.

We know that because our customers are across all industries. Hospitals to universities to retail stores have implemented our solution and have benefited from a great deal. But each of them came with different requirements. Not just industry, each customer was different in their size and need.

We had massive datasets and a lot of customers willing to guide us. So, we looked into one of the core aspects that customers look for in a product: price point.

Pricing should only be based on what the customer is willing to pay”- Mark Stiving, author of Impact Pricing: Your Blueprint for Driving Profits.

What followed was a deep-dive and extensive analysis of conversations we had with customers (and the ones who chose not to buy). Pouring over inputs on which features were used more, which features they never needed, we were coming to terms with surprises from our survey. We were reorganizing the must-have and nice-to-have features depending upon the changing environments.

Like how there is no single plan that suits everyone, there is no single paid plan that everyone is willing to pay.

It was reasonable.

A hardware store that wants to safeguard its inventory and business data will not have the same requirement as that of a hospital that needs to have servers running without downtime. The need varied across industries and sometimes, even within the same category, like schools and colleges, the requirements were different.

We came to a conclusion: Different Editions.

We previously had two editions- Free and Paid. Although our Paid edition was affordably priced, we wanted to give our customers the option to choose which edition offers the features that they would need, and at a price they are satisfied with. Pursuing this goal, we split the Paid Edition into Standard Edition & Enterprise Edition.

Virtualization of data centers is being aggressively incorporated across many small businesses. It is a result of years of awareness spread about by virtualization evangelists. Vembu VMBackup, one among the suite of products, lets you backup VMs running on VMware and Hyper-v. This Standard Edition that has been introduced in this release, is applicable only for Vembu VMBackup. This is because Vembu VMBackup has the scope for restructuring into two editions due to the myriad features that come with it.

This restructuring of features is targeted to help SMBs, who didn’t have the need for enterprise-level features like server availability or verified recoverability, find a product that could handle their current requirements and possible future use cases.

Features Rundown

SMBs can have a hassle-free experience with agentless backups of the VMs running on VMware and Hyper-v. Backing up multiple VMs in the same job and having a faster data transfer with proper transport mode automatically selected can be beneficial.

With Near-Continuous Data Protection, users can recover their backups as early as 15 minutes before data loss. RPO (Recovery Point Objective) will not be a concern. On the other end, the time taken to recover from a data loss can be reduced to minutes with Vembu’s Quick VM Recovery.

But, we knew having one type of recovery is never enough considering the different types of data recovery scenarios that exist. So, we have different types of recovery. To know more about the recovery options, save a spot for the upcoming webinar on Why do we need multiple recovery options?

One can also ensure the consistency of the backup data when considering backing up of Application Databases, with Application-Aware Settings. At the same time, the transaction logs created can be truncated before backup for efficient storage management.

Vembu’s Standard Edition now empowers SMBs to have an airtight disaster recovery plan in place with its OffsiteDR and CloudDR support. Users can replicate their backup data to their own offsite data center or the Vembu Cloud to become disaster-ready.

There are no restrictions with scaling-out their storage while the network utilization during data transfer can also be optimized with features like WAN acceleration and Backup Window.

Here comes the awaited part – The Pricing

Standard Edition

The Enterprise Edition has everything Standard Edition offers and a few more functionalities. High Availability of critical VMs with VM Replication, Advanced Retention Policies and automatic verification of the recoverability of the backup VMs are some of the features Enterprise Edition can bring to an organization.

With the Vembu BDR Suite v3.9.1, significant move has been made to meet the expectations of customers at their budgetary constraints to technical requirements.
