VAR partners

Turn every resilience project into assessment, design, and delivery revenue.

Value added resellers already hold the customer’s trust and the project context. Vembu Shield resilience platform gives that expertise a protection and recovery foundation to design around, migrate to, and implement with confidence.

VAR overview

What does a VAR do in the AcePartner Program?

A value added reseller combines Shield Platform products with its own services: readiness assessments, solution design, data migration, deployment, tuning and handover. The product sale is the start of the engagement rather than the end of it. The Shield Platform team supports architecture, sizing and technical validation so the VAR can quote larger, more complex projects without waiting to build every specialist role in-house.
Project lifecycle

Six project stages that each carry billable work.

A single backup refresh can contain far more services revenue than most proposals capture. Map the stages and price each one.

01

Assess

Inventory workloads, current protection, recovery gaps and compliance expectations.

02

Architect

Choose deployment model, storage tiers, retention and recovery targets.

03

Migrate

Move protection from the legacy tool without leaving workloads unprotected.

04

Implement

Install, configure policies, connect storage and integrate with monitoring.

05

Validate

Prove recovery with restore tests that the customer witnesses.

06

Hand over

Document runbooks, train staff, and agree the support or managed follow-on.

Services you can sell

Four service lines that lift each deal beyond the licence.

01

Recovery readiness assessment

A fixed-scope review of what is protected, what is not, and how long recovery would really take.

02

Platform consolidation

Replace several point tools with one console for servers, VMs, endpoints and SaaS data.

03

Cloud and hybrid design

Plan which data stays local, which replicates to cloud, and which goes to immutable storage.

04

Post-project care

Quarterly restore tests and policy reviews that keep the customer engaged after go-live.

Delivery model

Who carries what during a VAR-led project.

Project stage What the VAR delivers Where Shield Platform specialists help
Discovery Customer interviews, workload inventory, business impact view Fit checks and sizing against the discovered environment
Design Solution document, pricing, change plan Reference architecture and storage guidance
Proof Customer demo and success criteria Proof-of-concept setup and technical validation
Rollout Installation, policy build, user training Troubleshooting and early deployment help
Handover Runbooks and support agreement Knowledge transfer so the VAR can own the lifecycle
Platform coverage

One design language across the workloads your customers actually run.

A VAR proposal is only as strong as the environments it can cover. BDRShield spans the mix that most mid-market customers already have.

VirtualisationVMware, Hyper-V, KVM, Proxmox VE and oVirt protected at VM level.
Servers and endpointsWindows, Linux and Mac systems, with file-level and disk-image options.
Cloud and SaaSAWS and Azure instances, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
Databases and appsSQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Exchange and SharePoint.
Revenue mix

Different ways VARs structure the commercial side.

Fixed-price assessments

A short paid review that often leads to the larger implementation.

Time-and-materials projects

Flexible scopes for migrations with many unknowns.

Bundled solution packages

Software, services and a first year of care under one quote.

Care plans

Recurring review and test cycles that keep the revenue after go-live.

Partner questions

VAR partner questions

What is the difference between a reseller and a VAR in AcePartner?

A reseller starts from the product opportunity. A VAR builds services around it, such as assessments, design, migration and implementation, so the engagement carries project revenue as well as product margin.

Can the Shield Platform team help scope a complex project?

Yes. Shield Platform specialists can support discovery, sizing, architecture and technical validation while the VAR leads the customer relationship.

Does a VAR need a dedicated technical team to begin?

No. Capability can develop through real engagements, with specialist help on early proofs of concept and deployments.

Which workloads can a VAR design around?

BDRShield covers physical and virtual servers, endpoints, hypervisors such as VMware and Hyper-V, major cloud instances, databases and SaaS platforms like Microsoft 365.

How does a VAR move into recurring revenue?

Many VARs add care plans or managed backup after go-live. The MSP path describes how monthly usage-based licensing supports that step.

Have a customer project that needs a recovery foundation?

Share the scope with the partner team. We will help you test the design, and position your services around it.
