System State backup fails with "Error while dumping backup data in the client".

Cause

During system state backup, Vembu NetworkBackup would try to get the information about the system by fetching the computer name from environmental variable value. If the computer name is not updated correctly in the environmental variable, then system state backup would fail.

Solution

Usually these kind of issue occur due to mismatch of computer name and can be resolved by rebooting the machine. If the computer name remains to stay mismatched even after reboot, try changing the computer name in environmental variable with that of computer name displayed in “My Computer Properties” page.
