- What are the licensing models available with Vembu?
Vembu offers Subscription and Perpetual license model. You can opt for any one of these models based on your requirements. - What is Subscription Licensing & how does it work?
With Subscription licensing, you can purchase and use the product for a certain period. The license can be either purchased on a monthly or yearly basis (1, 2, 3 or 5 years).Vembu offers standard 24×5 technical support to all customers using Vembu BDR Suite of products with subscription licenses. In addition to our standard support, we also offer premium support (24×7) to adjust your support levels as your business grows and evolves.
- What is Perpetual Licensing & how it works?
Perpetual licensing allows you to purchase and use the Vembu products by paying a single fee (onetime payment). Perpetual licensing comes with free maintenance and support for the first year. After the first year, you can purchase the annual maintenance and support(AMC) which is 20% of the license fee. - What is AMC?
Annual Maintenance Contract is the fee levied to provide standard maintenance & support for the perpetual licensing model. - Are there any additional discounts on subscription licensing?
Yes, you can get an additional discount of up to 40% on the subscription license by purchasing the license for multi-year.
In addition to that, you can also avail a standard discount for small & medium businesses and seasonal discounts by contacting vembu-sales@vembu.com - Are there any additional discounts on perpetual licensing?
Yes, you can get an additional discount of up to 40% on the AMC by purchasing for multi-year. - How do I purchase licenses?
To purchase a license, you need to create a Vembu portal account at portal.vembu.com. Once you created the portal account, register your backup server with Vembu Portal. Using your portal account, you can purchase a license and apply the purchased licenses to your registered backup servers. The license can be purchased using either credit/debit card, wire transfer or Vembu Portal credits. - What is Vembu Portal credit?
Vembu Portal credit is a digital wallet from Vembu, with which you can add credits to Vembu Portal by paying the upfront cost. You can also use these credits for purchasing the license, storage, and AMC from Vembu. - Can I convert my Subscription Licensing Model to a Perpetual Licensing Model and vice-versa?
Yes, you will be able to port yourself from subscription to a perpetual licensing model or vice-versa. For license migration, please contact your partner/dedicated account manager or write to us at vembu-support@vembu.com or vembu-sales@vembu.com. - Does Vembu offer Perpetual Licensing for Vembu Cloud Services?
No, Vembu does not provide the perpetual licensing for Vembu Cloud Services as they are based on a pay-as-you-go model. - How to avail a partner discount?
For availing the discount, it is necessary to get a quote from your account manager and add the quoted amount in the form of portal credits using a custom payment option. Vembu Portal team will allocate the license to your account after deducting the portal credits considering the discount. - What are the different editions available with Vembu BDR Suite?
Vembu offers Free, Standard and Enterprise edition, based on the level of functionality you need for your environment. You can check the comparison these editions from here.Further, Vembu also offers an exclusive package – Vembu BDR Essentials, for businesses having backup requirements up to 10 CPU Sockets or 100 VMs. Vembu BDR Essentials is applicable for VMware and Hyper-V environments.
- Do I need to re-install if I want to upgrade from the Standard Edition to Enterprise Edition?
