Virtual Appliance – A pre-configured Vembu Backup Server is simple and ready to deploy. With Vembu’s Virtual Appliance, IT professionals can backup data from their servers to Virtual Appliance and can replicate the data to the cloud.

To import OVF file to VMware ESXi host, follow below steps

  1. Login ESXi server from the vSphere client.
  2. Go to, File > Deploy OVF template and Browse and Select the OVF file
  3. Select required options to launch virtual machine. click the next button.
  4. OVF template details are show this page, click the next button.
  5. Create the virtual appliance name in EXSi host machine.
  6. Select the hard disk type as thin provision.
  7. Click the finish and appliance will be started in the ESXi server.
  8. Once deployment is completed successfully, try to login the virtual machine with the given username and password. The default credentials are given below:

    • User name: root

    • Password: password

  9. Open terminal and verify if Mysql, Mongo and Vembu BDR services have started.

  10. Open any web browser(FireFox or Chrome) and browse https://localhost:6061
  11. Login Vembu BDR Backup Server web console with the given username and password
    • User name: admin
    • Password: admin
  12. Select the time zone setting for this machine.
  13. Enter the Vembu BDR ID and update the Repository.
  14. Configure the backups from client machine to the backup server.
