Cause
The VMware backup of free non licensed ESXi server virtual machines are not supported for backup. The backup job will fail with the error message "Current license of ESXi version prohibits execution of the requested operation”
Solution
Vembu VMBackup does not support free version of ESXi. Vembu is using advanced VMware vStorage APIs for Data Protection and the API is a licensed VMware feature. Therefore, backups using these APIs are restricted at the VMware service end. Please upgrade to a paid version of ESX or ESXi in order to backup the VM without any issues.
