Troubleshooting: Unable to Add Cluster as Standalone or SMB Host

Unable to Add Cluster as Standalone or SMB Host

KB ID: 117045
Cause:
The alert message, "Adding cluster is not allowed here. You can add it using 'Add Hyper-V cluster' option," typically appears when a user attempts to add a Cluster IP as a Standalone host or an SMB host.
This restriction is in place because if the Cluster IP migrates to another node, the system cannot effectively track the added host. Consequently, adding a Cluster IP as a Standalone or SMB host is not allowed to maintain tracking accuracy.
Solution:
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
1. Instead of using the Cluster IP, provide the appropriate Host IP address or Hostname when adding it as a Standalone or SMB host.
By doing so, you can ensure proper host tracking and functionality without encountering the mentioned error message.
