Adding Microsoft Hyper-V or Microsoft Windows host in Vembu BDR or VMBackup client may fail with “Problem while accessing remote registry in the target host” error.

  • This error occurs if the remote registry service is either stopped or disabled in the target host.


In order to overcome this error, please try the following steps:

  • Go to services.msc and start the remote registry service if it is in a stopped state.
  • If the remote registry service is disabled then change the logon of the service from disabled to automatic and then start the service.
  • After enabling the remote registry service try adding the same host from the BDR server or VMBackup client.
