This error would occur if the Vembu BDR Backup Server is not able to establish a connection with the target agent in the host. Because of this, BDR Backup Server is not able to communicate with the proxy agent installed in the target host.

This proxy connection failure can occur due to one of the following reasons:

  1. The target host is unreachable.

  2. Vembu Integration Service is not available in the target host.

  3. Vembu Integration Service is not running in the target host.

  4. Vembu Integration Service in the target host is of the lower version when compared with the Vembu BDR backup server.

This error can be resolved with the below steps:

  1. First Check whether the added host is up and running (reachable). If not, configure correct host settings.
  2. Next, check if the VIS agent is available in the target host.
      • Open ‘Control Panel’ from Windows Menu
      • Search Programs -> Programs and features
      • Check for the “Vembu Integration Service agent” application.
      • If it's not available, then install a VIS agent for the host.
  3. If a VIS agent is available in the target host, then check if the service is running.
      • Go to 'Run' and type “Services.msc”
      • In the list, check for “Vembu Integration Service” and see the status.
        • If service is in the stopped state, right click and start it manually.
        • If the service is disabled then, right-click the VIS service and select properties > change the startup type from “Disabled” to “Automatic”
  4. Check whether the 42005 port which is used by Vembu Integration Service is blocked.
      • Open ‘Control Panel’ from Windows Menu
      • Search System and security -> select windows firewall
      • Click Advanced settings -> Inbound rules
      • Check for “VembuIntegrationService” rule.
  5. If the port [42005] is blocked for VIS, then allow the connection -> Right-click and choose properties and select allow the connection
  6. If the port [42005] is not available, then add it manually in the firewall by using below steps:
      • Click add new rule -> select port and click next
      • Select TCP port -> specific local ports -> Enter “42005” and click next
      • Select allow the connection and click next
      • Select rule -> apply for Domain, private and public and click next
      • Enter the name as “VembuIntegrationService.exe” and click finish to add this rule to the firewall
      • Go to Inbound Rules and confirm whether the new rule is added to the firewall.
