Resolving: Unable to log you in - Make sure BDRSuite PostgreSQL service is running

KB ID: 115123
For Windows - BDRSuite PostgreSQL Database
Cause-1: PostgreSQL service is not running
Problem: This error occurs when the PostgreSQL service is not properly started on the backup server machine or has stopped due to environmental reasons.
Solution:
1. Verify the status of the following PostgreSQL services in the "services.msc" console and start them if they are stopped:
For BDRSuite v5.3 and above: BDRSuite PostgreSQL Database
For BDRSuite v5.0: VembuBDR PostgreSQL Database
For BDRSuite up to v4.2: VembuPostgreSQL

2. If the PostgreSQL services fail to start, follow these steps:
   a. Open the Task Manager on the machine.
   b. Go to the "Details" tab and check if "postgres.exe" is running. Also, terminate any child executables of VembuPostgreSQL, if present.
   c. Stop all BDRSuite services running in "services.msc."
Then start the services one-by-one in the following order:
   1. BDRSuite PostgreSQL Database
   2. BDRSuite WebServer
   3. BDRSuite Backup Server Virtual Physical Workloads
   4. BDRSuite Memcache for AWS
   5. BDRSuite 360 Agent
   6. BDRSuite WebService for AWS
   7. BDRSuite WebSocket for AWS
   8. BDRSuite Backup Server for AWS
   9. BDRSuite Backup Server Google Workspace
   10. BDRSuite Backup Server Microsoft 365
   11. BDRSuite GranularRecovery for MS Applications

For BDRSuite Client, follow the same steps but replace the service names with
  1. BDRSuite Client PostgreSQL Database
  2. BDRSuite Client WebServer
  3. BDRSuite Client for Virtual Physical Workloads
  4. BDRSuite Memcache for AWS
Cause-2: PostgreSQL data storage location drive letter changed
Problem: This error occurs when the drive letter for the installed PostgreSQL data storage location is changed.
Solution: Follow the steps in this link to migrate Vembu BDR/Vembu OffsiteDR internal database (PostgreSQL) files from one location to another.
Cause-3: Webserver browser cache
Problem: This error occurs due to Webserver browser cache.
Solution: Ensure you restart the BDRSuite WebServer along with the BDRSuite PostgreSQL Database services by starting PostgreSQL first and then the Webserver.
Cause-4: PostgreSQL database storage location configured in unsupported file system (exFAT)
Problem: This error occurs when the PostgreSQL database storage location is configured with the exFAT file system, which is not supported.
Solution: It is not recommended to install PostgreSQL service in the exFAT file system. The supported file systems are NTFS and ReFS, while the unsupported ones are FAT32, UDF, exFAT, NAS, and removable drives (USB Drive).
Note: Please make sure to select a supported file system (NTFS or ReFS) during the PostgreSQL installation.
For Linux:
Step 1: Download Backup Agent from BDR console. It will be downloaded as a Zip file
Step 2 : Unzip the file using the below command from the location where the zip file presents
unzip BDRSuite_Delegation_Service_7_1_0_0_DBN.zip
Step 3: Install BDS agent using below command
./BDRSuite_Delegation_Service_7_1_0_0_DBN.bin
Step 4: Agree to the License & gave BDR server IP as Backup server name
Note: After the successful installation, the service will be started and the agent details will be auto synced to the Backup Server automatically.
