Cause:
Vembu BDR uses Volume Shadow Copy Service(VSS) for taking snapshots. The above alert usually throws when the VSS is unable to run due to another instance of VSS already running.
- Microsoft's native snapshot manager is only able to perform one snapshot at a time. If a snapshot process is already running when the backup job starts, the backup job could fail.
- VSS conflicts: Running more than one backups at a time may try to take a snapshot at the same time which will lead to VSS conflict and will cause the backups to fail.
Solution:
If you have more than one backup application installed on your machine, disable all the other applications and try running the backup job again.
