Cause:

This error would occur in the following scenarios if the backup configured volume contained bitmap.dat file:

  • is not accessible (or)
  • Corrupted (or)
  • Removed manually (or)
  • by some other third party application.

Example: Few anti-virus applications may delete the file.

Solution:

To resolve this issue, please follow the below steps:

Case 1: If the bitmap.dat file is corrupted (bitmap.dat file available but backup failing with above-said error) or bitmap.dat removed manually.

Run an additional full backup for that job by clicking on edit and save the configuration.

Case 2: If a third-party application like antivirus is deleting the file.

Add the bitmap files location (by default, it will be <volume>\bitmap.dat) of each configured volume in the exception list of your antivirus software (or disable the antivirus and configure an additional full backup.).

Then run an additional full backup for that job by clicking on Edit and save the configuration.
