Unable to access the Vembu NetworkBackup/OnlineBackup application(via web-console) as the web service doesn’t start automatically even after successful installation.

Apache(httpd) service of Vembu NetworkBackup/OnlineBackup client is unable to start due to missing of dependent util XQuartz(X11)l.

Vembu NetworkBackup/OnlineBackup requires X11 packages installed on the MAC machine. As the X11 is no longer provided with OS X default, it should be installed manually.

How to confirm service startup issue is due to missing X11?

  • Open command terminal.
  • Login as ‘Sudo’ user.
  • For Networkbackup client : change your working directory to below location.

  • For Online Backup client : change your working directory to below location.

  • Start the application by invoking below command

    For Networkbackup : ‘sh startVembuNetworkBackup.sh’

    For OnlineBackup : ‘sh startVembuOnlineBackup.sh’

If you see the below print as the output then this issue is due to the missing X11 library.

Cannot load /Applications/Vembu/VembuNetworkBackup/apache/apache/modules/libphp4.so into server: Library not loaded: /usr/X11/lib/libfreetype.6.dylib\n Referenced from: /Applications/Vembu/VembuNetworkBackup/apache/gd/lib/libgd.2.dylib\n Reason: image not found
