Challenge

To perform complete uninstallation of Vembu BDR from the backup server machine.

Steps to be followed to uninstall Vembu BDR from the Linux Backup server machine

  • Firstly, if you want to remove the Vembu BDR backup server completely, you must have to drop sharded databases on the MySQL and MongoDB.

    cd "Installation_Location” ->./bin/VembuBDR DropShardedDatabases

  • And then drop Main database of MySQL using command.

    DROP DATABASE database_name

    To know your main database name, follow the steps below:

    Goto "Installation_Location/conf/SGConfiguration.conf". In the SGConfiguration.conf text editor file, under the "Database" tag where you will find an attribute named as DatabaseName.

  • You can remove the MySQL ODBC components using our online installer.

    sh VembuBDRSimpleOnline_Installer.sh remove

  • For removing MongoDB, you can stop MongoDB by running the following command:

    /etc/init.d/mongo stop

    Then you can remove the Mongodb folder in /opt

  • Once the above Mongodb folder is removed, you can uninstall VembuBDR by running uninstall.sh from the installation location < /home/vembubdr/Vembu/VembuBDR>

  • Delete the folder named as “sgstorage” in the backup storage location and “installation folder” in the installation location.

  • After following the above steps restart the backup server once.

Steps to be followed to uninstall Vembu BDR from the Windows backup server machine

  • Firstly, if you want to remove the Vembu BDR backup server completely, you will have to drop sharded databases on the MySQL and MongoDB.

    Open the command prompt and execute below commands:

    cd "Installation_Location"-->"bin\VembuBDR.exe DropShardedDatabases"

    It will remove MySQL and Mongo DB sharded databases completely.

  • And then drop the main database of MySQL using command.

    DROP DATABASE database_name

    To know your main database name, please follow the below steps:

    Goto <installation_location>/conf/SGConfiguration. conf. In the SGConfiguration. conf text editor file, under the <database> tag where you will find an attribute named as DatabaseName.

  • Need to remove both 64 bit and 32 bit MySQL ODBC Connector by running the uninstall.bat file available in the below location.

    Open command prompt and execute the below commands:

    c:>cd “C:\Program Files\MySQL ODBC Connector 5.2\mysql-connector-odbc-noinstall- 5.2.4-win32”

    C:\Program Files\MySQL ODBC Connector 5.2\mysql-connector-odbc-noinstall-5.2.4-w in32>Uninstall.bat

    C:>cd C:\Program Files\MySQL ODBC Connector 5.2\mysql-connector-odbc-noinstall- 5.2.4-winx64

    C:\Program Files\MySQL ODBC Connector 5.2\mysql-connector-odbc-noinstall-5.2.4-w inx64>Uninstall.bat

  • For MongoDB, please run the "Uninstallmongo" file from the following location:

    Open the command prompt and execute below command.

    C:\ >cd "C:\Program Files\MongoDB\mongoDB 2.4.5\mongoDB”

    C:\Program Files\MongoDB\mongoDB 2.4.5\mongoDB> Uninstallmongo.bat"

  • Once the above folder is removed, you can uninstall MySQL and VembuBDR from Control Panel> Programs and Features

  • Delete the folder named as “sgstorage” in the backup storage location and “installation folder” in the installation location.

  • After following the above steps restart the backup server once.
