Unable to Create VM Snapshot. Failed to Quiesce the VM.

Unable to Create VM Snapshot. Failed to Quiesce the VM.

KB ID: 105130
Details:
BDRSuite utilizes VMware snapshots for VM Backup & Replication. During the snapshot initiation for backup or replication, BDRSuite ensures VM quiescing to maintain on-disk data consistency. However, users may encounter an error message stating, "Unable to create VM snapshot. Failed to quiesce the VM." This error occurs when there is an issue with quiescing the VM to create a snapshot.
Causes:
The following factors may lead to this error:
1) The VSS writers of the Windows VM are not in a stable state.
2) The snapshot operation exceeds the time limit for holding off I/O in the frozen virtual machine.
3) The operating system of the VM is Windows Server 2019 with EFI-boot, and the recovery volume & system disk are GPT disks.
4) The operating system of the VM is GPT disk without MSR partition.
Solution:
As the causes mentioned above are specific to VMware snapshot creation, VMware provides the necessary troubleshooting steps in its knowledge base section. Below are the links to VMware's knowledge base section for each of the mentioned causes:
1) If the VSS writers of the Windows VM are not in a stable state: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/1007696
2) If the snapshot operation exceeded the time limit for holding off I/O in the frozen virtual machine: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/1018194
3) If the operating system of the VM is Windows Server 2019 with EFI-boot and has the recovery volume & the system disk as GPT disk: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/60395
4) If the operating system of the VM is GPT disk without MSR partition: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/71130
