Causes:
This error occurs due to the following reasons:
- Invalid ESXi/vCenter Server Credentials
- VM configured for backup is deleted/removed on the target ESXi host
- VM selected to perform ‘Disk Level Recovery’ is not available
- Connectivity Issue
Solution:
Cause 1:
Make sure the ESXi/vCenter Server credentials are valid. If the credential used while saving the host is changed, then you need to update the credential in the BDRSuite Server.
Cause 2:
Make sure the selected VM is available on the target host. If the VM configured for backup is deleted/removed on the target ESXi/vCenter Server, backups will fail for the VM. You need to edit the corresponding backup job and remove the deleted/removed VM from the backup configuration.
- To Edit and remove the VM, login to the BDRSuite Backup Server and navigate to the Backup -> List Backup Jobs page.
- Under the ‘Actions’ column, click on the ‘Edit’ icon alongside the corresponding backup job.
- If you are using BDRSuite v5.3 and above, the host needs to be refreshed on the BDRSuite Server to remove the deleted/removed VMs. For this, on the Host/VM Selection page, you need to click on the "+" icon to expand the host, which will automatically refresh and will only show the VMs available, and then save the backup configuration.
- If you are using BDRSuite v5.2 and below, on the Host/VM Selection page, you need to click on the "+" icon to expand the host, remove the VMs manually and then save the backup configuration.
- Deleted VM’s Backup Data will be retained on the backup repository based on the configured retention policy.
Cause 3:
Make sure the selected VM to attach the backed-up disk is available on the target host.
Cause 4:
Make sure the IP address of the target ESXi/vCenter Server is correct. Ensure that the target host can be accessible/connected through the port.
