Cause:

  • If the IP address of the guest VM could not be resolved or network connectivity to the guest machine could not be established
  • A connection to the WMI repositories of the guest machine could not be established.

Solution:

Turn off the firewall in Guest VM

OR

Configure guest VM Windows Firewall service to allow inbound remote administration connections:

1) Launch the Group Policy Object Editor snap-in (gpedit.msc) to edit the Group Policy object (GPO) that is used to manage the Windows Firewall settings in your organization.

2) Navigate to Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Network -> Network Connections -> Windows Firewall, and then open either Domain Profile or Standard Profile, depending on the profile which you want to configure.

3) Enable the following exception: "Allow inbound remote administration exception".

Now Check the WMI connectivity test between the Server Machine and Guest VM with wbemtest utility by the following steps:

  • Search for “wbemtest” application in search in Server Machine
  • Click on Connect
  • On the namespace text box enter:

     \\{HostIP}\root\cimv2
     [eg - \\192.168.102.34\root\cimv2]

  • Enter username, password and click on Connect.

  • In case of any error, retry pushing agent after fixing the error.
