Configuration File Access Error during Backup: Windows 2016 Hyper-V Upgrade

KB ID: 104050
Issue:
Encountering an error while attempting to access the configuration file for backup operations.
Cause:
This error arises due to a configuration file mismatch in guest VM(s) during migration from Windows 2012 R2 or other versions to Windows 2016 Hyper-V host and newer version.
Solution:
To address this issue, follow these steps to ensure smooth backup operations for the affected guest VM(s):
1. Shut down the virtual machine using the Hyper-V Manager.
2. Right-click on the specific VM and select "Upgrade Configuration Version."
Note: If this option is not available for the VM, it is already at the highest configuration version supported by the Hyper-V host.
3. After upgrading the VM configuration version, power on the VM and initiate the backup process.
