Cause

  • The default trial period is 30 days for a newly installed backup server. Once the trial period expires then the successive backups will start failing for the backup job with the above error.

Solution

Once the trial period (30 days) of the backup server is completed, register the BDR Backup Server with your Vembu Portal account; Registration with Vembu Portal is required for license management after the trial period.

To register the BDR Backup Server with the Vembu Portal Account follow the steps given below:

  • Step 1: Navigate to the Management tab in the BDR Backup Server and click on the License menu.

Note: You can also navigate to the License Management page by clicking on the Register button at the top right corner of the screen alongside the Management tab.

  • Step 2: On the License Management page, click the Register with Vembu Portal button and add the email-id and password with which you have signed up for your Vembu Portal account and click the Register button.

Note: If you don't have a Vembu Portal account, then follow the following steps i.e. Step 3, Step 4, and Step 5.

  • Step 3: Click on the Sign up link, which will redirect you to the Vembu Portal signup page.

  • Step 4: In the Vembu Portal sign-up page, fill in all the required details and click on the Sign up button.

Note: Once done an account registration email will be sent to the added email-id, click on the link and you will be asked to add your password to access your Vembu Portal account - then your vembu Portal account will be created successfully.

  • Step 5: After creating your Vembu Portal account, follow the details mentioned in Step 2.

  • Step 6: After registering your BDR Backup Server with your Vembu Portal account, purchase and assign your required license units from the Vembu Portal.

  • Step 7: Once assigned, navigate to Backups tab > List Backup Jobs; and try running the incremental/ full backups again.
