Normally this error message will occur due to the following reasons:

  • A backup was scheduled but some folder getting skipped due to problems like ‘Read Failure’ at client side.
  • It will happen due to some permission problem. The user under which Vembu service is running does not have enough permission to read the folder for backup.
  • If some file is unreadable or corrupted in the client machine, the file will be skipped while taking backups.
  • If the files are used by some other application during the time of backup progress.


Please check the following details from your client machine to resolve this issue

1) If the folder gets skipped while taking backup, it will be noted as a “skipped.lst” file in the installation location.

2) Open file "Vembu InstallationHome/report/backup/BackupName-ServerName -skipped.lst" file from your client machine.

3) Please check the following details from your client machine to resolve this issue: If the skipped file\folder doesn't have enough permission for particular user (the user under which Client agent service is running) then provide full permission for problematic folder.

4) The folders that are skipped during backup will also be available in the 'View skipped folders lists' page along with a skipped reason in backup report.

5) If the skipped folder gets corrupted or unreadable with any user account, then exclude those folders from backup list by editing the backup schedule for avoiding partial backup issues.
