Vembu Backup for Microsoft Hyper-V

Vembu Backup for Microsoft Hyper-V supports Agentless Host-level and Cluster-level backup for virtual machines running on local storage, CSV, SMB share, and Storage Spaces Direct(S2D). Vembu uses the image-based backup approach and leverages Microsoft VSS snapshot and Hyper-V checkpoint capabilities to back up the entire VM data including OS, Applications, VM disks, and all the data.

Vembu installs its own Guest Tools inside virtual machines that run MS Applications - Exchange, SQL, Active Directory, and Sharepoint, to create consistent database snapshot and perform the application-aware backup. Also, after the successful backup, Vembu supports the automatic truncation of transaction logs.

Vembu BDR Backup Server uses Microsoft technology RCT to perform incremental backups on Windows Server 2016 & above and uses proprietary CBT driver to perform incremental backups on Windows 2012 R2, 2012, 2008 R2. Vembu also supports the Checksum based incremental method to have a seamless backup experience, even if the CBT happens to fail in some rare cases.

You can instantly restore the VM within a few seconds or granularly recover only the files and application items directly from the VM backup. You can create a secondary copy of your Hyper-V backups to a Remote Site, Private/Public Cloud, or Vembu Cloud for disaster recovery purposes. Also, you can archive a copy of your backup data on Tape drives for long-term retention.
