How Vembu BDR Complies?

Having a decade and a half years of experience in the field of Data Backup and protection, Vembu has designed its software in such a way that it strictly adheres to any data protection regulations before the GDPR actually came into effect. Given below are following details that would give you a wide scope of how Vembu BDR Suite can help you meet the GDPR requirements.

Data Protection:

  • The complete data is encrypted using the AES-256 bit encryption algorithm to ensure a high grade of data protection both at-fly and at-rest
  • The encrypted data can also be protected using a custom encryption key, as per users’ needs. The details of the password are also encrypted with the MD5 algorithm, and vembu holds no traces of those passwords
  • Vembu uses its patented VembuHIVE file system that actually has inline deduplication, built-in version control, and point-in-time restores along with built-in error correction techniques for reliability. Since Vembu uses its own file system with its own file format, it is not that easy for others to access your data

Data Access:

  • The BDR suite of Vembu entails IT-Admins to have a strict access control over their backup jobs. So, the Admins can selectively provide full/partial access to people who hold access and also constrain some users to access the backup jobs
  • Vembu holds no extraordinary privileged access in the event of an emergency, as it has no access to end users’ data. The Subject here holds the sole control in granting access

Data Migration:

  • Backup data can be exported. If the subject wishes, it can migrate data to another service provider or to other location but the end where the subject migrates the data can only be viewed with the help of Vembu BDR Software

Data Status:

The Status of the data is viewed through the reports. Vembu incorporates many reports that actually gives you the complete overview of the data that has been backed up.
  • Backup Status Report: The status of the backup job can be viewed in this report. This report highlights the Failure, Suspended, Missed, Partial and Success ie; the status of the scheduled backup Jobs.
  • Image Integrity Report: This page lists every image backups configured to Vembu BDR server along with their backup details i.e., backup name, plugin, client name, hostname, machine name, etc… It also confirms if the backup data is mountable and provides a boot image of most recent backup(This ensures that the backup is in a readily-bootable state).
Other than these two important reports Vembu BDR Suite also has various other reports like VM Status Report, Quick VM Recovery Report, Restore Report, Merge Report, Deleted Backup Report, etc… where all of these will exactly give you the health status of your backup data and its source (VMs/ Physical Machines).

Data Recovery :

  • Fast and Secure Data Recovery: As the RPO & RTO of Vembu BDR Suite is less than 15 mins, you can recover your data at a much faster rate and Since Vembu also has the Quick VM Recovery option it enables you to instantly avail your data at any host with higher rate of data integrity (VMware / Hyper-V), which will save you from any ransomware or fault environment.
  • Item level Recovery: Vembu BDR Suite ensures granular recovery option that will enable you to handpick the items that are to be restored, this option will help you to dig deep down into the backed up data and restore files individually.
  • Multiple Recovery Option: Vembu BDR Suite has multiple recovery options that would support the end-users to have multiple copies of their data during the time of disaster; This actually adds strength to the concept of Disaster Recovery.
