2017-10-26 04:09:20 -0500 answered a question Cannot add more than one host (hyper-v)

Hi,

In Free Edition there is no restriction to add the Hyper-V host. For the Hyper-V host issue please follow the below steps and send us the needed information.

  1. Check whether Windows RemoteRegistry service is disabled in the Hyper-V Host that you are trying to add. If so , kindly uninstall the already installed VembuIntegration service and enable the windows RemoteRegistry service in the Hyper-V host. After doing this try adding the Host again from the VembuBDR

  2. If you still face issue kindly send the Hyper-V host OS details and zip the log folder which is available in the below location of the VembuBDR , VembuIntegrationService and send an email to vembu-support@vembu.com

a)In VembuBDR send us the below log folder

        Location: [Installation Location]\log

        Example: "C:\Program Files\Vembu\VembuBDR\log"

    b) In Hyper-V Host send us the below log folder

        Location: "C:\Program Files\Vembu\VembuIntegrationService\log".

Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to our Vembu Community Forum.

Normally if you are adding remote Hyper-V host from VembuBDR, following things should be enabled in the remote Hyper-V host.

  1. Hyper-V host should be enabled to recieve remote powershell commands.[Winrm Service should be running and PsRemoting should be enabled]
  2. Remote Registry Service should be enabled in the services of Hyper-V Host.

But if the Hyper-V Host is the local machine usually this issue won't occur. If you still face issue kindly zip the log folder which is available in the below location of the VembuBDR and send an email to vembu-support@vembu.com

Location: "[Installation_Location]\log\"

Example: "C:\Program Files\Vembu\VembuBDR\log"

The powershell command correctly results the OS Name of the Hyper-V host. So by adding the host with ip should work. But in your case it fails. In order to know the exact issue kindly contact vembu-support AT vembu.com with the VembuBDR log file which will be available in the installation location (<vembubdr installation="" location="">\logs\server.log) to assist you further.

2017-07-17 06:01:25 -0500 commented answer Cannot add Hyper-v Host

As mentioned in above comment, if you have hyphen(-) in your machine name adding the Hyper-V host may fail. This is a known issue in the VembuBDR V3.7. We have fixed this issue in our v3.8 release which is expected to be released by the end of this month. So as of now if the machine name has hyphen character, try giving ip address of the Hyper-V host. If you still face the issue, kindly run the powershell command mentioned in the above thread and send us the result.

Yes sometimes this may occur in Hyper-V. There may be various reason for merge failure. Restarting the VM will fix the issue. Make sure that the Hyper-V Integration services are enabled and it state is uptodate. This improves integration between the host and the VM.

2017-05-02 07:04:59 -0500 answered a question Cannot add Hyper-v Host

Hi,

To add Hyper-V host below things are need to be considered.

  1. Need to add the Hyper-V host with administrator credentials. If it is under any Domain Controller, please add the Hyper-V Host with domain administrator credentials

  2. Hyper-V host that you are trying to add shouldn't be a virtual machine.

  3. If the machine name or username that you are trying to add has (-) in it , adding host may fail. So try giving ip address for the host.

To analyse the issue, please provide the output for the following command.

Step 1 : Open the command prompt with the administrator privilege in the VembuBDR Backup server.

Step 2 : Execute the following command and provide us the output.

  • If the Hyper-V host [Windows 2012R2 Datacenter] to be added is local machine run the following command

    Powershell wmic os get caption

  • If the Hyper-V host [Windows 2012R2 Datacenter] to be added is Remote machine run the following command.

Powershell wmic /node:"<HostName>" /user:"<UserName>" /password:"<Password>" os get caption

Example: Powershell wmic /node:"MachineM1" /user:"Domain2012\administrator" /password:"Apple" os get caption

Step 3: Revert back to us with the output of the above command.

Hi,

The Vembu NetworkBackup client startup failure may be it doesn't have enough permissions. In order to resolve please try any one of below steps.

Step 1:

Give administrative privilege to Vembu Installation folder [Read and Write Permission ]

Step 2:

Try giving administrative privilege to the account in which the Vembu NetworkBackup is running or log on as a administrator account for NetworkBackup in services.

2016-02-11 12:11:27 -0500 answered a question The Server rejected this client's backup Request

Hi,

You can get the exact reason for the failure in the remarks column under the backup report. Below are the some of the common scenarios where you could get the above error.

  1. Not enough license units - Normally this error occurs if respective backup license is not purchased. you can buy the license from the customer portal account via https://portal.vembu.com to to reactivate the backups.

  2. The Backup seems to be virtually mounted - This error occurs if the backup is mounted in the backup server. Un mounting the backup in the server web console will resolve this issue.

  3. Lower version client is not supported. - This error occurs if the client version is higher than the server version.

If you get any specific error other than this kindly contact our support team at vembu-support@vembu.com

Regards, Senthil.
