2019-01-25 02:35:27 -0500 answered a question Full image backup process gets failed?

I find it hard to believe that there's a network issue here. I have run this at different times of day and it's always failed at around the same point. I've also run this with a constant ping in the background to the VembuBDR server, and the ping never fails to reply.

Looking at the log file for the server, there are some errors as follows... would these be the issue??

24-01-19 14:03:03 ERROR [ CDriver::IsVolumeTracked ] <cdriver> IsVolumeTracked :: FALSE from IsVolumeTracked [Error :: Tracking Bitmap File path is 0] Volume :: Z:\ [........\source\vhdlib\src\lib\Driver.cpp:694]

Any assistance would be great.

Thanks.

2019-01-24 08:00:18 -0500 asked a question Full image backup process gets failed?

Hi, I have a server that was backing up OK (using windows image backup on a stand-alone Windows 2012 server) but recently it has been throwing an error when trying to backup.

The error in the email generated states "Full image backup process gets failed. For more details, please check the log file".

The log file for this server appears to show the job attempt to start, but then nearly 10,000 lines (roughly 52 lines per second) of the following is logged:

ERROR [ ServerBackupObject::ReceiveAndProcess ] Waiting for socket reconnection from client Mirage [ServerBackupObject.cpp:1119]

Any pointers as to what could be causing this?

Thanks!

2019-01-07 09:42:59 -0500 asked a question Unable to delete jobs/servers (v3.9)

Hi there,

I'm having difficulty in removing/deleting back up jobs and servers from my VembuBDR interface.

I am currently setting up a new VembuBDR server with v4.0 and once a backup has been run I am then wanting to delete the old backups from v3.9. I have tried the following ways to delete them:

Backup > List All Jobs > Find job I want to delete > Click MORE icon > Delete - This pops up with that the delete has been scheduled Backup > Microsoft Windows > List Microsoft Windows Host > Find the server I want to delete > Click Remove - Shows "Delete in Progress" and eventually refreshes the page and the server is still listed.

I have tried deleting one particular server over the last 5 days and it still remains.

Is there any way to force removal of a server from VembuBDR?

Thanks!

ANSWER:

After a conversation with Vembu support (thanks for calling me today) we have successfully removed the drivers that failed to be removed during the agent uninstall procedure. Once these were removed and the server rebooted I was able to reinstall the v4.0 agent via the VembuBDR as normal.

Thank you for your help!

Thanks for your reply.

Firstly, this is not a Hyper-V host, and I have made no mention of it being one.

The service uninstalled fine first time around that wasn't the issue. I have removed all Vembu entries from the registry (there were three entries regarding installation paths), rebooted again, and it has made no difference, I still cannot install the client integration tools.

I'd appreciate some kind of solution to this as v4 has now totally messed up all my backups. It is incredibly frustrating that I am having to uninstall the services and reboot servers as it is, without these further issues.

After moving to V4 Free Edition, which is fast becoming a pain as I have to now go around 50+ servers and remove the client integration tools and install them again (you'd think not hey?) I am coming across the following error on a number of machines:

"Unsintall your client or Intergration service properly and restart your client machine." (Please note the spelling is as per the error in Vembu, a spell check may be needed by the devs)

I came across this article in the KB...

https://www.vembu.com/support/knowled...

Sadly, this doesn't help in the slightest. I have uninstalled, rebooted, searched for anything Vembu related, deleted, rebooted, screamed at it, rebooted, pulled my hair out, rebooted, rebooted, rebooted, and still I cannot install the new client tools.

Can anyone shed any light on this? What is being left behind on these servers to stop the installation? I have not touched the registry as yet, just in case I break stuff too much and can never use Vembu on these servers in the future.

With thanks,

EDIT: The KB article linked above has been updated to include detailed information on removing the client agent and tools to clean up the failed uninstall.

2018-11-01 05:27:47 -0500 answered a question Vembu Server Service Crashes on Restart

Hi Nivas, thanks for the reply.

I "think" I'm managed to sort it out. After running the EXE from the command prompt a number of times, I could see it complain in red text about not being about to contact one of the servers it is backing up. I went to that server and found the Vembu Integration Service was stopped. After starting it, it stopped, I started it, it stopped. Checking the event log on that server showed many entries for MSInstaller stating "Windows Installer reconfigured the product. Product Name: VembuIntegrationService. Product Version: 3.9.1. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Vembu Technologies Pvt Ltd. Reconfiguration success or error status: 0." After about 20 attempts to start the service it finally stayed running, and I could start VembuBDR.EXE on the backup server.

I have removed the backup for that server, and will re-add it once I'm happy that it is running properly.

In the meantime, I will send over the crash dump and some logs, in the hope that it'll assist in finding the underlying issue.

Many thanks!

Hi,

It's come to light that my backups aren't running as the VembuBDR service keeps crashing. The event log shows the service starting, then after 30 seconds or so the service stops with no additional information as to why.

I have run the VembuBDR.exe under command prompt and can see all the steps the server is going through on screen, it gets to a certain point then stops but there doesn't appear to be any connection as to which step is causing the service to stop.

I'd really appreciate some help in resolving this :)

Many thanks!
