We noticed that you are using our older version Vembu VMBackup v3.7. Hence we recommends you to first upgrade to Vembu VMBackup v3.8 and then run the backup. If you still face the issue, kindly send the log folder of the Vembu VMBackup installation in zip format to vembu-support@vembu.com to give you better solution.

Log folder location in Vembu VMBackup installation directory,

Location: [Installation Location]\log

Example: "C:\Program Files\Vembu\VembuVMBackup\log"

1) Provide us the Screenshot of the Email Settings Configuration page with the Error message you receive.

2) Provide us the output of the ping command from your Vembu BDR Server installed machine by following the below steps.

Open Command Prompt and type the following: ping SMTP_Server

3) Provide us the output of the following commands by executing in your Vembu BDR Server installed machine's command prompt terminal, so that it will help us to assist you in a better way.

telnet SMTPSERVERNAME SMTPPortNumber

HELO SMTPSERVERNAME

EHLO SMTPSERVERNAME

QUIT

Normally the reported issue is caused in case Vembu BDR is not running or PostgreSQL is not running on the server. Hence we request you to check the status of both the services and update us in case of any issues.

Hi Vaibhav,

You can go ahead and configure the backup job with run daily incremental and also in the next page you can configure additional full backup to run daily. The time set to run additional full backup should be 5 mins prior to the incremental backup configuration. By configuring this way full backup will run first and once it completes incremental backup will run but there will not be any changes backed up.

Example : Set 9:05 AM for incremental configuration and 9 AM for additional full backup.

We suspect that the database update thread of the particular backup jobs might be taking more time and getting failed in the backup server end. Please update us the following details from your environment to provides you solution on this.

  1. Exact error message from Backup Server report
  2. Backup log file for the particular backup from Backup Server. It will be available in installation location.

From the error message provided, we suspect that the ODBC driver is not properly removed\configured. Hence please navigate to C:\windows\system32 and C:\windows\syswow64 and test the connection in the odbcad32 file. Please make sure the database name and other configuration are same as that of configured in SGConfiguration.conf file in the BDR installation location C:\programfiles\vembu\VembuBDR\conf. If the connection fails then we need to remove the ODBC through the registry and re-install it. If you require assistance in uninstalling and re-installing please do contact our support through vembu-support@vembu.com
