I am backing up file backup server using file backup option to Vembu online backup server and the backup jobs fails with the error message "Problem in accessing the snapshot device while opening file". The drive that I am backing up is having enough permission. What will be the issue and where can I provide permission for the snapshot device.
@tom hecker Normally the Volume Shadow Copy service will be in stopped status with manual start up time state. During backup the Microsoft VSS will be started and data will be backed up to backup server.
The reported error "Problem in accessing the snapshot device while opening file" will be shown when the VembuonlineBackup client instance is unable to open the configured files for backup from the snapshot device. Normally this file opening issue will occur when if the file to be backed up doesn't exist when the snapshot is performed, but exists while VembuBDR is listing the files for backup.
Note : VembuOnline client will backup these skipped file(s) in the subsequent backup schedules. Kindly check whether the skipped files count in the next schedule is getting reduced and all the files are getting backed up in the next consecutive schedule.

Did you checked whether Volume Shadow copy is enabled/ set active in the client machine that you are backing up
