How do I get rid of missed "ghost" backup emails

I created, then deleted a couple of backup jobs. Now I get an email everyday saying the backup schedule was missed. the backups don't exist any more and I don't want to receive these messages.

Here's an example:

Missed Backup Schedule Report Backup Server : torsql Client : torsqlclientnew Backup Name : OtherDrives Expected Start Time : Wed 03 Aug 2016, 09:30:00 pm No.of Times Missed : 3 Expected Schedule Time : Thu 04 Aug 2016, 09:30:00 pm Remarks : Backup did not get scheduled at the expected schedule time. Check the client side backup reports for more details on why the schedule was missed

Hi Brucer,

We are suspecting that the backups which has been deleted in client has not been deleted in server side.While deleting the backup job from client side. It will also been removed from server automatically. But if the client is not able to connect the server while deleting the backup. The backup job will not be deleted in server. So the backup server is maintaining the backup job and it is alerting you to check the client because it has not been started from the client in the expected schedule time.

Please do check the deleted the backup jobs in server and if it is available.Do follow any one of the below mentioned solution which is suitable for you.

Resolution 1:

If you do want the backed-up data of those mentioned backup jobs for restore purpose in future.Please follow the below steps to stop the email alert for those mentioned backup jobs.

Go to : Management->Settings->Email Settings->Email Filters

Select the last option in that page saying that "Exclude the following Clients / Backup Schedules( do not Email any reports for these )"

And choose the client(torsqlclientnew) in which under the problematic backups has been configured and choose the problematic backup job one by one and click "Disable email reports for above selection" for each selection

And finally click "Save Server Side Filter Settings" button to save the filter settings.

Resolution 2:

If you do not want the backed-up data in server for those mentioned backup jobs.

Go to: "Recovery" Menu

And click on the "Delete" action icon of that problematic backup job to remove the backup from backup server.

Once it has been done you will not receive the email alert for those jobs as missed.
