Online Backup Reinstallation

I have just done a clean install of Windows on a client machine that was running Vembu Online Backup.

I have a backup of the data folder containing the client side configuration and backup jobs

I have tried to install Online Backup and then restore the data folder but I now cannot start the web console. It just asks me to register the machine and if I use the same machine name and password it simply repeats the request for the machine name.

Please can someone provide a step by step guide to reinstalling OnlineBackup whilst retaining the client side configuration? I do not want to have to register the machine as a new client and have to re-do my backup jobs from the start if at all possible.

Geoff,

Follow below steps to rebuild your existing Vembu OnlineBackup client installation.

1) Copy following files and folders from old Vembu OnlineBackup client installation location.

C:\Program Files\Vembu\VembuOnlineBackup\data

C:\Program Files\Vembu\VembuOnlineBackup\conf\SGConfiguration.conf

C:\Program Files\Vembu\VembuOnlineBackup\conf\token.xml

C:\Program Files\Vembu\VembuOnlineBackup\htmlgui\conf\config.inc

C:\Program Files\Vembu\VembuOnlineBackup\htmlgui\conf\UIConfig.conf

2) Then uninstall the existing Vembu OnlineBackup client, if it is not properly un-installed earlier.

3) Install Vembu OnlineBackup client and after completing installation, stop Vembu OnlineBackup service.

Start -> Run -> type 'services.msc' and enter -> search for 'Vembu OnlineBackup' and stop it.

4) Then, rename the following files and folders in the new installation and replace with existing backup from old installation.

C:\Program Files\Vembu\VembuOnlineBackup\data

C:\Program Files\Vembu\VembuOnlineBackup\conf\SGConfiguration.conf

C:\Program Files\Vembu\VembuOnlineBackup\conf\token.xml

C:\Program Files\Vembu\VembuOnlineBackup\htmlgui\conf\config.inc

C:\Program Files\Vembu\VembuOnlineBackup\htmlgui\conf\UIConfig.conf

5) Start Vembu OnlineBackup service and login with the same credentials.
