I have configured a Disk image backup from an SQL Server and i noticed that on successful completion of backup, my database size was the same and transaction logs are not getting truncated. I have enabled the option "Truncate log " in the backup. Can you guys help on this?

During disk Image backup, VMBackup is using Microsoft VSS API to take the snapshot of the particular volume. If MSSQL Server data resides in any one of configured volume, VSS will control the SQL Server Writers till the end of backup job. During completion of backup, VSS will initiate the log truncation process for the SQL Server databases internally and it won't consider the recovery model of the particular database.
Log truncation frees space in the logical log by deleting inactive virtual log files form the start of the logical log. So, the size of log files remains the same even after the log backup happened in MSSQL Server machine.
The frequency of log truncation depends upon the recovery model of the particular database. SQL Server truncates the transaction log every time you back it up under the full model only. Please verify the same in your environment and update us.
