Vembu-VMBackup

I got the trial version and it expired. I registered with the portal to get the free license but after registering under Free license policy I get this message: "Free License is not applicable for this account." Under License management I see 1 Unassigned license and 0 Assigned

On the backup server under Management -> BDR Edition, Free edition is selected.

The main issue with this is when I try to run a backup I get the error: "Changed Block Tracking based incremental backup is not supported in Vembu Free Edition" but according to the website it should be.

I've had the same issue and after making a ticket and working with them they managed to get it working - after one or two uninstalls and reinstalls. The issue now is that it seems that every month I have to reach out again because backups stop working and I get an error saying I have no licenses. This is happening right now for the second time this month.

Hi contactB2B2,

I have checked your Vembu Portal & it seems you have configured backup for your Hyper-V VMs from your free edition backup server. The Free edition server allows you to configure up to 10 VMs for free, making sure all the VMs are in the same backup(full-featured backup job).

As you have configured backup for 2 backup jobs, only the first backup job is considered for the full-featured free edition, and the incremental backup will be processed for the VMs in the first backup job.

Whereas the incremental backup is not applicable for the second backup job(limited feature backup job). So, I suggest you suspend/delete the second backup job and add that particular VMs to the first backup jobs to run the incremental backups for it.

Hi vembuABC4,

From your Vembu Portal, it seems you have configured image backups for your windows servers. The full-featured free edition is not applicable for the windows servers backup. We suggest you purchase the image backup license to continue with the full & incremental backups.

I have the same problem, trial is about the expire but i can't get free license, is it unavailable for Vembu Backup for Files & Applications?

Hi j.parsic,

Free edition is not applicable for file/folder level backup of file servers i.e. machines running server OS of Windows and all Linux OS. Whereas, if you are trying to backup endpoints such as the Windows Desktop & Mac at file/folder level, then you can backup upto 10 endpoints for free."
