This error will come if the Vembu BDR Backup server machine does not have access to portal.vembu.com. Make sure the Vembu BDR Backup Server has internet connectivity to access portal.vembu.com to perform the license check.
If you are using a network/web proxy for internet connection, then you need to provide the same details on the Vembu BDR Server proxy configuration page. To configure a proxy server on your Vembu BDR Server, navigate to Settings > Web Proxy and provide the proxy details and click on Save.
You will also get the above error if your firewall may be configured in a way that the computers in your network will connect to the internet only through the web browser. As one of our EXE is connecting to the portal.vembu.com to perform the license check, make sure you have also provided enough access to the EXE's of Vembu to access portal.vembu.com. You can confirm it by using ping or TRACERT command from your command prompt or terminal.
For example, open the command prompt and execute any one of the following commands
Command 1: ping portal.vembu.com
Command 2: tracert portal.vembu.com
