Is there any performance tweaks I can do to speed up VMware Full backups, using the free edition?

Previously my backups were running at 200-350Mbps. I since had to rebuild the server due to various issues, and now I'm getting 20-90Mbps. I installed Vembu BDR Suite in exactly the same way as previously. Network switch is no showing any bottlenecks. If I do a file copy from another machine to the Backup server, I see 400-800Mbps transfers. I noticed Vembu was using more RAM (around 6GB) when I had the fast speeds, and now it's using around 400MB.

What could be the issue here?

Performance-related issues are specific to the environment, in your case, the drop in performance may be for various reasons such as the network-speed, share of machine resources or the read/write speed of the source or target disks.
