I keep getting an error when trying to perform a file backup using NetworkBackup on a Windows Server 2019 client. The error states:
Authentication failure while backing up to the server.
I have another client that's backing up to the BDR Server just fine. I performed a Settings > Test connectivity to Backup Server and everything passed. I don't have another client configured in the BDR Server with the same name or ip. Any suggestions?

To analyze this further, send the log folders of Vembu NetworkBackup client and Vembu BDR Serveras a ZIP file to vembu-support@vembu.com. Our support engineers will analyze the log files and get back to you with the solution.
You can find the log folder of Vembu NetworkBackup client on the client machine at < installation Location >\Vembu\VembuNetworkBackup\log
For example: C:\program files\vembu\VembuNetworkBackup\log
You can find the log folder of Vembu BDR Server on the backup server machine at < installation Location >\vembu\vembuBDR\log
For example: C:\program files\vembu\vembuBDR\log
After reviewing the logs, I figured it out. The logs state:
Your backup server is running in Free Edition mode. So, you can't configure/schedule the backup job from VembuAgent.
I am trying to backup files/folders on a Windows Server 2019 client, which requires a paid license; I can't use Free Edition.

The file & application backups are free for workstation operating systems. If you want to backup a server operating system, then you need to purchase a separate license.
From the error message and backup log, it seems you are getting a different error message for the actual error. We will check this internally and fix it in the upcoming releases of vembu.
