Hello,

I may be missing something somewhere, but I have continuous backups enabled and email notifications set on the client side and with this setup I get emailed anytime a backup is completed which triggers a few hundred emails per day. Is there a way to have continuous backups but only a daily report at a specified time? My client and server setup is below

We don't have any option to limit the number of email reports per day from the vembu NetworkBackup client. However, you can schedule the email report from the Vembu BDR Server but this will send the report of all the clients.

To schedule an email report from Vembu BDR Server, Go to Reports > Backup Status > Schedule Email Report, apply the filter and save the report.

We are taking this as a feature request and it will be available in any one of the future releases of vembu.

Hi,

Just so I am clear, if I have continueous backups set, then anytime a single file (or more) gets backed up I get a server side email notification so a busy server will be sending me hundreds of emails a day? This is the correct behaviour of a VembuBDR server? As an example, in the last two hours I have had 50 "Success - Server backup Report of $backup_name [$client] - VembuBDR Alert" emails all from a single client. Some of which show 0 Added Files, 0 Deleted Files, 0 Modified Files, 0 Skipped Files, 0 Skipped Folders, 0.00 bytes Used Space and under Remarks it says "Backup Completed Successfully". If there was nothing to backup, why did it even run? And if there is nothing to report, why even send an email? Backup image attached.

We suspect temp files might have been created and deleted in the configured folder at the time of backup. It might be the reason you are receiving emails with 'Backup completed successfully' but no data transferred to the backup server.

To reduce the frequency of the mails for the particular backup, we recommend you to configure the following settings in the client and the backup server side on your environment.

Client side:

Go to Settings > Email Configuration and disable email notification for the backups.

Backup Server side:

Go to Settings > Email > Filters and select the checkbox "Exclude the following Clients / Backup Schedules(do not Email any reports for these)"
Select the particular client and its backup in the Client List and Backup List respectively, and save the applied filter. This will disable further email notifications for the backup.

You can use the 'Schedule Email Report' option from backup server console which will allow you to email the reports(cumulative backup status reports) periodically to your inbox.
