I want to store my data to Rackspace (Cloud Storage Provider).I noticed that your product support data storage to AWS and Azure (Cloud service provider).So i want to confirm it whether it also supports Rackspace.?
Vembu BDR and OffsiteDR server are available for Windows and Linux platforms that can be installed on your Rackspace virtual server and you can configure backup or DR respectively.
If you want to have a primary copy of your backup data to be stored on Rackspace storage, then you need to install Vembu BDR Server on your Rackspace server and configure the backup storage repository. Once Vembu BDR server is installed and storage configured, you can create backups for your physical and virtual machines directly from the installed backup server or through Vembu proxy agents and store the data on your Rackspace server. Make sure you have an uninterrupted data connection for seamless backup data transfer.
If you want to have a secondary copy of your backup data on Rackspace, Firstly install Vembu BDR Server on your local site and configure backups for your Physical and Virtual machines to the local storage repository. Then, install Vembu OffsiteDR Server on your Rackspace server and configure backup replication from your Vembu BDR Server to Vembu OffsiteDR server.
For file and Application level backup, you can directly send the backup data to Vembu BDR Server installed on your Rackspace. But for image-based backups like VMware, Hyper-V or Windows disk image backup, it is always recommended to have a local backup configured using Vembu BDR Server and then replicate a copy of the backup to Vembu OffsiteDR on your Rackspace server.
Why is that so for image backup alone it is not recommended to make primary storage to rackspace cloud provider ? Is there any particular reason ?
VM and Physical image backups are snapshot-based backups. If the network is interrupted during the backup data transfer to the remote Vembu BDR Server, the backup data will be transferred again from the beginning. However, to avoid backup failures due to minor network interruption, we have implemented reconnection attempts for all image-based backup. So, if the interrupted network is re-established within 30 minutes, the data transfer will continue from the point where it got interrupted else it will start from the beginning.
For example: If you are backing up a VM or physical machine is having 1000 GB of data and if the network got interrupted after backing up 900 GB, then the backup transfer will start again from the beginning.
However, if you have an uninterrupted network and better bandwidth connectivity between your data center and Rackspace data center, you can directly send the backup data to Vembu BDR server deployed on your Rackspace cloud environment.
Thanks for answer and one more thing I have some wasabi cloud storage.is it possible to configure the my storage location from vembu bdr server to wasabi cloud storage.
We haven't tested Vembu BDR with Wasabi Cloud Storage as a primary storage target. However, from their documentation, it seems they are providing direct connect option and if it will able to take care of porting the data to their cloud storage, you can use this option to set up the Wasabi Cloud Storage as a primary storage target. However, we recommend you to test the backup and recovery functionalities.
