I would like to automatically create a VHD export of each machine to a network location on my Synology. I plan to use Synology's HyperBackup to copy VHD's to an external USB to carry out of the building on a regular basis. I didn't see how to schedule a restore job to do this. Is this possible? I need to this to run on a schedule and not rely on manual steps.
From your details, we believe you have few Windows machines / VMs and you want to export the VHD/VHDx of the machines periodically to a Synology NAS storage and then move it to a external USB storage.
As of now, we don’t have a direct steps to do this from our User Interface. But as a workaround, you can follow the below steps to achieve your requirement.
First you have to backup your entire machine as a image (using VMware VM Backup or Hyper-V VM Backup or Windows Server Backup based on the system you have) .
Then by using our Web Service APIs, you can create a custom script to download(restore) the backup data as VHD/VHDX to your Synology NAS
Then you can move the downloaded VHD/VHDX from your Synology NAS to an external USB drive.
In order to schedule the download of VHD/VHDX periodically, you can add your custom script to Windows Scheduler or Cron tab.
