Full feature free edition is available for only first 3 VMs added in the first backup job. So, in the first backup job, you can add up to 3 VMs. If you add more than 3 VMs in the first backup job, those VMs will be failed with "No valid license available" error. If you would like to backup more than 3 VMs, you need to create a new backup job for other VMs. For rest of the VMs, you will get limited features. Refer this link to know more about the feature availability.
We believe that this backup job was configured before the activation of free-edition, The Full-featured free edition is applicable only for the backup job which is configured after the activation of free-edition (only for 3 VMs and it should be configured in a single backup job). We suggest you configure a new backup job for the same VMs that you have configured for the backup earlier, and you can still use your older backup job for recovery purposes.

In order to make sure whether the BDR backup server upgraded to FREE Edition, check the free edition status on the BDR backup server console. After logging in to the backup server console, on the left bottom, open the notification icon and check the server status. It should be "You are using Vembu Free Edition!" message. If you could see anything else, this may the reason for the backup issue. If your server shows proper message, follow the steps to resolve the backup issue. 1. Delete the existing backup job, 2. Goto "Management ->Server Management -> Server Registration -> Click 'Run License Check'", 3. Then Sign Out and then log in again, 4. Now configure a new backup job. Once you click the Backup link, immediately you will be given the option to choose ...
I am unable to identify the root cause of this issue. So, contact our support team at vembu-support@vembu.com. They will remote into your BDR server machine to fix this issue.
