While adding network drives as a storage volume for the backup repository, make sure that the following expectations are met:

(1) The BDR Backup Server has enough permissions to access the network share. To ensure this, check whether the Windows service "BDRSuite Backup Server for Virtual Physical Workloads" runs with administrator privileges.

If not, then follow the steps as mentioned below:

  • Right-click on the service "BDRSuite Backup Server for Virtual Physical Workloads", and click on "Properties".
  • Then navigate to the "Logon" tab and change the access to "This account".
  • In that space, provide the administrator credentials, i.e., the username and password with administrator privileges, and click Apply.
  • Now, restart the service to update the new administrator logon, and try adding the network drive as storage volume.

(2) Check if the network drive is password-protected. If so, then add the required credentials and click on the "Save" button on the Add Network Drive page.

Even after following the above-mentioned steps, if you are still facing the same issue, kindly send an e-mail along with the BDR Backup Server logs in a zipped folder to vembu-support@vembu.com, keeping "regarding the forum query" as the mail's subject line.

Note: You can find the log folder at the "< installation_path >\Vembu\VembuBDR\log" location.

For Example: "C:\Program Files\Vembu\VembuBDR\log"

Why is Vembu changing the slashes?
It's a minor UI issue, we have noted it down and will be fixed in our next immediate release.
