OK I've solved problem 1. To force a clean install, delete the home directory of the vembunetworkbackup user (rm -rf /home/vembunetworkuser) , then remove that user (userdel vembunetworkbackup). Also rm /etc/init.d/vembunetworkbackup

Then you can go ahead with a clean install.

However I'm still stuck on problem 2. When I try a /etc/init.d/vembunetworkbackup I get the libtinfo.so.5 missing problem.

If I go into the /home/vembunetworkback/vembu/vembunetworkbackup folder and execute startVembuNetworkBackup.sh it seems that the apache process does initiate, however it keeps killing itself and restarting... perhaps because the back end is not starting?
