The Vembu Backup for VMware and Hyper-V has 3 editions -Free, Standard, and Enterprise. In the Free Edition, you can backup up to 10 VMware/ Hyper-V VMs with Standard Edition features within a single backup job by selecting the full-functionality option.
To opt for the free edition; first, you have to register your BDR Backup Server with your Vembu Portal account; then navigate to Management Tab in the BDR Backup Server web-console > BDR Edition page > and select the Free Edition option.
You can check the limitations of features for each edition from the following link: https://www.vembu.com/vembu-bdr-suite-free-vs-paid-edition/"
Note: if you are using the free edition you can't configure backup jobs from the Vembu Client for VMware & Hype-V Backup.
Regarding the error that you get; kindly, post the screen-shot of the error message in the same community thread, for our better understanding.
Answer for the second question:
From your statement it seems that you are mentioning about the disk rotation feature; Right now, we don't support the Disk Rotation feature, and this feature will be generally available in our upcoming release of the Vembu BDR Suite v5.0 in the next 3 to 4 months. So, if you add a new volume with the same drive letter, it won't break the incremental chain.
