Adding and configuring backup for Hyper-V host directly from the BDR Backup Server is supported when the BDR Backup Server is deployed on a Windows machine.

If the BDR Backup Server is running on a Linux machine, the backup of Hyper-V VMs can be configured only through a separate Vembu Client GUI.

Check on the following steps for the backup of Hyper-V host through the Vembu Client:

Step 1: Download and install the Vembu Client for VMware & Hyper-V Backup on the targeted Hyper-V host; refer to the following guide for the installation procedure. The client needs to be installed only on the host, not on each VM that you need to backup.

Note: You can download the Vembu Client for VMware & Hyper-V Backup from your BDR Backup Server by clicking on the icon (?) > Download Client Agents.

Step 2: After the installation of the Vembu client, you need to log in to the Vembu Client GUI to configure the backup job. To access the Vembu Client GUI, enter the IP address/DNS of the Hyper-V host along with the port 7070 i.e. https://< Ipaddress/ DNSofHyper-Vhost>:7070 in any web-browser.

Step 3: Once after logging into the Vembu Client GUI, enter the IP address/DNS of the Linux machine on which the Vembu BDR Backup Server is installed.

Step 4: After entering the IP address of the BDR Backup Server in the Vembu Client for VMware & Hyper-V Backup, you will be navigated to the dashboard where you can see the options to backup Hyper-V VMs.

Step 5: Click on the option to backup Microsoft Hyper-V and follow the backup configuration details as shown in the following guide.
