As per the design, the recovery points of the daily backups are marked for retention (with letter d in the suffix) on every third day. When the retention count exceeds the set policy, it will be added to the synthetic merge recovery point.

The last 2 recovery points are marked for retention and after the successful backup on 20 May, then the older restore points will be merged to meet your retention policy. The process will continue for successive days.

If you want to restore from every daily backup that happens after the full backup, edit the backup job and disable the retention.
