The idea behind the Offsite seed migration is to reduce the time and bandwidth required to transfer the data over a network. The seed feature in the Offsite copy management allows you to transfer the initial data from the Vembu BDR Backup server to an OffsiteDR server using any local storage medium i.e External USB drive or Portable NAS. Once the initial data got seeded to the local storage medium, connect it to the OffsiteDR server. Using the Offsite Seed Migration in the Server Management (Management>Server Management>Offsite Seed Migration) you can transfer the seed backup data from the local storage medium to the OffsiteDR server, then the incremental backup data can be directly transferred from the Vembu BDR Server to the OffsiteDR Server through WAN.

Server seed migration is another option which will allow you to transfer the backup data from the client agent i.e Vembu NetworkBackup agent for file and application-level backup to Vembu BDR Server using local storage medium. You need to seed the full backup data to the local storage medium while configuring the backup job from the client agent, once it is successfully seeded, using the server migration in Vembu BDR Server(Management>Server Management>Server Seed Migration) you can transfer the seed backup data from the local storage medium to the Vembu BDR Server. After that, the incremental data will be directly sent from the client agent to Vembu BDR Server via WAN.
