Monday Blues and TGIF are not for those who have access to Facebook, Quora, YouTube at work. We like to have fun at Vembu, and that resonates well in our team members. Likewise, we establish the same spirit of fun even in some so called Tech Forums. Last week, we’ve informed our prospective partners about the VMware CBT technique. As our team has written a couple of blogs earlier regarding VMware CBT, it should not be a surprise for our early followers. In this blog post, let me share you a quick update on the CBT technique we are planning for XenServer Backup.

For an on-premise backup or online backup expert it is easy to understand what a VMware CBT is. To play down the complexity, we spiced up this term with a great info-graphic. The responses we got from it were truly amazing and hilarious. There is a misconception that techies are those who do not think of a product in layman’s terms. So as a part of reciprocating it, one of our marketers posted a “funny joke” that she quoted when we were talking about the benefits of VMware CBT. I hope she doesn’t throw me a stone at me for reposting it!

We found out that some IT pros were not aware of what VMware CBT was. VMware CBT is a technique in incremental backup which only checks for blocks that have changed. With this feature, users don’t need to sacrifice as much storage space in their backup storage servers. As Virtualization has become the talk of the tech-town, our team has already geared up for an alternative approach to extend the CBT support to Citrix XenServer backup and Microsoft HyperVisor backups.

We have already started supporting Citrix XenServer Backup in Vembu BDR v2.0. The CBT option for these Hypervisors is our next ambition. This announcement from Vembu might surprise those who are looking out for a consistent state of backups. So stay on the lookout for Vembu’s CBT support for Hypervisors, it will be coming out in the near future. Should you need any questions on XenServer Backup Disaster Recovery, don’t hesitate to contact us if you would like to be notified when the feature is released.
