For someone who has completely moved into virtualization arena, it is imperative that they be aware of the fact that there is an advent of a new technology quite often. VMware and Microsoft are making sure that they provide simple and comprehensive storage solutions to their customers although the former has a major say in the business. When it comes to backup, Vembu VMBackup follows the simple yet comprehensive mantra and has been attracting quite a lot of attention from customers and technical experts. The latest product review of Vembu VMBackup by Justin Paul talks in details about VMBackup and it’s overall performance.

Justin in his detailed product review has not talked about replication as he is a part of Zerto but he had made sure that he presents a fair view of the rest of the features offered by Vembu VMBackup. Justin begins his review appreciating the easy navigation of the interface but has few recommendations for the management section of VMBackup. He also speaks in detail about Vembu’s own filesystem, VembuHive and how this feature can inspire other backup vendors to come up with their own storage management mechanism.

Protect Your Data with BDRSuite

Cost-Effective Backup Solution for VMs, Servers, Endpoints, Cloud VMs & SaaS applications. Supports On-Premise, Remote, Hybrid and Cloud Backup, including Disaster Recovery, Ransomware Defense & more!

The expert in his product review talks in detail about the VMware backup function and how it is straightforward enough. Then he shifts his review towards the restore function and talks about multiple restore options offered like Instant VM Recovery, Live Recovery to ESX(i) Server, File-level Recovery, Disk-level Recovery and download in multiple formats. Then, the reviewer talks about Hyper-V Backups and restore functions, has criticized the part where one has to enter the Hyper-V server UNC path. Then he comments on the pricing part and states that the prices are relatively less compared to other vendors.

In the conclusion part, Justin says that he would like to have global de-dupe and UNC path feature but acknowledges the fact that Vembu VMBackup has a quite a lot of ‘nice to have’ features which makes it a strong contender in the much crowded Backup & Disaster Recovery market.
