Changing job careers from the retail field to the IT industry was quite a drastic change for me. This change has posed challenges but has really expanded my knowledge. I didn’t even know VMware or Microsoft’s Hyper-V existed until I started working for Vembu Technologies. I realized that virtualization is a huge industry and all businesses from small to large greatly benefit from virtualization. This includes cost savings by decreasing the amount of physical servers and electricity to keep data centers operating efficiently. I never put a second thought on how even my previous retail job relied on servers to store immense amounts data. This is where our software comes in to assure data is backed up and restored when needed.

As a Marketing Analyst I attend many events to ensure that our software penetrates the competitive market. This includes talking to potential customers about the benefits of virtualization and the cloud. I discuss about how our software makes data backup and restores simple yet cost effective. Many times customers would ask many technical questions about the functionality of our product and how we differentiate ourselves in the market. These questions are answered by both myself and our technical team to provide thorough answers to their questions. Listening to these conversations allowed me to learn about the technology behind how our software works and about virtualization in general. I learned the differences between bare metal and hosted hypervisors, vCenter and vSphere and learned about the benefits of having virtual machines instead of physical servers. I even learned the differences between our competitors and how our strategy sets us apart from the highly competitive market of IT data protection.

It has allowed me to have more confidence to attend roadshows and events where I can talk to others about virtualization and how our product helps achieve security of data. I am excited to be a part of the company where, as an individual, I am making a difference for the company. This includes achieving quality leads from events and generating interest in consumers whom have been wasting money on other data backup products to ensure safety of critical data. I will continue to learn more and more about IT every day and look forward to having a greater understanding of virtualization and cloud technology. My goal as a Marketing Analyst is to make sure that Vembu BDRTM sparks the minds of consumers as the best data backup product in the market. Lets just say that we are hitting our target quite rapidly!
