The following procedure is to convert a VMware virtual machine to a Hyper-V virtual machine through the virtual-to-virtual (V2V) machine conversion process in Virtual Machine Manager (VMM). The source virtual machine can be stored as VMDK files, or running as VMware VM in a ESXi host or managed under a vCenter server.

Supported Esxi Server version and vCenter Server version are:
vCenter Server 4.1
vCenter Server 5.0
vCenter Server 6.0
ESXi Server 5.0
ESXi/ESX Server 4.1
ESXi Server 6.0
Download the above mentioned Microsoft virtual machine converter tool and Install.
Enter a Location Where you want to install MVMC or use the Default location and continue with installation on the local machine.
After completing the installation, Open the MVMC window, and Click Next..
Select a Machine Type in the page and Click Next.
On the Migration Destination page, there are two types of Migration, one Migrate to Microsoft Azure and another one, Migrate to Hyper-V. Select Migrate to Hyper-V option and then click Next.
The subsequent steps are:
Select Migrate to Hyper-V ( Convert VMware Virtual Machines to Hyper-V virtual machines )
Select the Hyper-V host as the Destination for the Virtual Machine.
Type Hyper-V Host IP, Username, Password.
Click Next.
On the subsequent page, specify a path to store the converted virtual hard disks.
Click Browse and choose path for storing the converted virtual hard disks, then Click Next.
On the Source page, Enter the details of connecting to ESXi server
Type the VMware ESXi Server Host IP > Username > Password and Click a Next button.
On the Virtual machine page, Select a virtual machine(Windows server 2012 R2) on the source VMware Server to Convert.
On the Final state of source virtual machine option, select the source virtual machine to be turned On or Off when the restoration is complete
On the Final state of target virtual machine option, select the target virtual machine to be turned On or Off when the conversion is complete
Finally, source virtual machine state is Power Off and converted destination virtual machine will Power On Then click next button.
Click the Browse button Select a location on this machine with enough free space for the converted virtual hard disks.
Click the Next.
Review the details and click Finish to complete the conversion.
If warnings are displayed, review them before proceeding with the conversion
Note: Once the conversion has been completed successfully, MVMC starts the virtual machine
If you do not want the virtual machine to be started, go to the Hyper-V manager in the destination server and shut down the virtual machine.
On the Completion page, one could see that the virtual machine conversion has completed successfully, click Close.
Conclusion:
Using Microsoft’s MVMC tool, one could easily convert a VM from VMware to Hyper-V with fewer and clear steps and thus it helps in cross-environment migration effectively.
