Outlook & Outlook Express Backup with StoreGrid
If you 'live in Outlook' and use it for your emails, notes, scheduling, and more, then an Outlook backup is probably the first backup schedule you ought to get StoreGrid to do.
To create a StoreGrid schedule to backup your Outlook / Outlook Express data, simply select the Outlook (or Outlook Express) shortcut in the hot links StoreGrid automatically displays in its directory tree. StoreGrid takes care of the rest. It collects all the required files and folders that the backup needs and spares you the unnecessary details.
However, if Outlook is open at the time StoreGrid attempts a backup, StoreGrid, by itself, will not be able to access all files required for backup as Outlook typically locks up the pst file. If you're using Windows XP or Vista, StoreGrid can easily use the installed Volume Shadow Copy service to execute your Outlook backups. If you're using an earlier version of Windows, you may want to have a look at our open file plugin or you could simply allow StoreGrid to automatically close Outlook when doing an Outlook backup (StoreGrid will also automatically reopen Outlook once the backup is completed).
Please note that Outlook Express backups don't have this issue (exclusive locking of open files) as Outlook Express allows StoreGrid to access the required files during backup.
