Overview

This feature helps you recover the Backup Server and its data from the Replication Server. If your Backup Server had been replicating to a StoreGrid Replication Server, then, in case of any crash/disaster at your Backup Server, the StoreGrid Backup Server can be rebuilt from the Replication Server. You can either recover the backup data and the Group/clients configurations OR you could recover only the Group configurations and copy the backup data separately from the Replication Server. After copying the backup data from the replication server, you would need to do a "Local To Remote Server Migration".

How to get here in the StoreGrid Web Console?
 In the top menu, select: "Server Admin -> Replication Management -> Server Disaster Recovery (Icon)"

Server Disaster Recovery

• Select replication server - Select the replication server from which you wish to recover the backup data.

• Select data to recover - Type of recovery you wish to do from the replication server.

  Group & Client configurations AND Client data - If this option is selected, then the Group and clients configuration will be automatically recovered along with the backup data from the replication server.

  Group & Client configurations ONLY - If this option is enabled, then the configurations of the Group & clients will alone be recovered and not their backup data. You can manually copy the backup data from the replication server and do 'Local To Remote Server migration'. This option is particularly useful if you wish to minimize the bandwidth usage (and therefore time) to get data from the replication server to the backup server.

• Are you restoring data to this server afresh or is this a continuation of previous restore attempt that failed to complete due to a network error.

  Restore afresh - If this option is selected, the Backup Server will recover all the backup data & configurations afresh from the replication server.

  Continue where I last left - If this option is enabled, the Backup Server will attempt to recover the backup data/configurations from where the previous recovery attempt left off.

• Parallel threads - This specifies the number of simultaneous backups that should be recovered from the replication server. By default, it is set to 5.

Troubleshooting Tips

	Could not find any configurations to restore in the Replication Server.
Cause : This error would occur if there were no replicated backups available on the Replication Server (for the Backup Server). Solution : Please try recovering data from the replication server where the backup server was previously replicating.

	Problem in performing Server Disaster Recovery with error :: Replication Server's StoreGrid license has expired. Number of StoreGrid Installations exceeded 5. Replication Server connections disabled!
Cause : This error occur if the Replication Server's license has expired/count exceeded. Solution : Please apply a valid license key to the Replication Server and thereafter try recovering data from the Replication Server.
